#RivetingReads: Louise Doughty Recommends Sjón’s MOONSTONE

I’ve just discovered the beautiful and poetic work of the Icelandic writer Sjón. His book Moonstone is published by Sceptre and I came across it as part of their 30th birthday celebrations.  It’s set in Reykjavik in 1918 as a volcano erupts and the Spanish flu is taking a deadly grip.  It’s a book to read in one sitting and then to re-read very slowly and carefully for its loveliness and strangeness.
