Open Call: UK Editors Trip to Poland

Dates: October 2016
Location: Poland

The British Council and The Polish Book Institute are supporting four UK commissioning editors to travel to Poland for a scoping and study trip in October 2016.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for UK publishers and editors to learn about Polish literature, showcase literature from the UK, gain insights into the market and build long-lasting relationships with their counterparts at Polish publishing houses. The visit takes place during Conrad Festival and Krakow Book Fair.

The programme will aim to introduce delegates to the world of Polish literature and publishing. The trip will include meetings with Polish editors and rights professionals. Meetings will take place at publishing houses, cultural venues, book cafés and restaurants in Kraków. Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet with Polish literary critics, writers and translators from the broader literary community.

This application is open to any commissioning editor of fiction or literary non-fiction from a UK-based publishing house whose list includes literature in translation.

Deadline is Monday 26 September 2016.

To apply, download the brief and application form from the British Council website.
