In collaboration with the Bulgarian Cultural Institute we are thrilled to welcome Zdravka Evtimova discussing her brand new novel, The Wolves of Staro Selo.

In the deprived Bulgarian neighborhood of Staro Selo, crime rules people’s lives. Unemployment, violence, and corruption are common concerns. Dimitar becomes wealthy by running Staro Selo in terror. But old Elena, a witch-like character with a gift for healing will not shy away from the injustices her neighbors are forced to endure. A decision that will have consequences for her family.

Zdravka will be joined by her translator Yana Ellis, and both will be in conversation with Rosie Goldsmith, Director of the European Literature Network and founder of The Riveter magazine.

The European Literature Network was created with the mission of championing great writing from Europe in the UK – and doing it together. Open to writers, translators, publishers, agents, booksellers, festival directors, arts managers and journalists, ELNet is a free, collaborative hub for sharing news and views.

ELNet operates without funding or grants (unfortunately) and is therefore dependent on the passion, professionalism and dedication of our core team and on an extensive network of volunteers, supporters, partners and donors.
