Workshop: Literary Translation, Cultural Diplomacy and International Dialogue

The Arts & Humanities Research Council-funded project on the translation of the literatures of smaller European nations is pleased to announce its third public workshop, which will take place on Monday April 25th at 5pm at the Free Word Centre, 60 Farringdon Rd, London EC1R 3GA. The workshop will focus on the work of national, international and third-sector promoters of literature in translation. We aim to understand better the nature of their work, its aims and priorities, how its success is measured and the challenges faced.

Our speakers will include Erica Jarnes from English PEN and Gabriela Mocan from the Romanian Cultural Institute. We would especially welcome the participation of representatives from national cultural centres and embassies in London and representatives of third-sector organisations that promote literary translation. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
