TRAFIKA EUROPE CORNER with Clayton McKee: Upcoming Submission Opportunities with Trafika Europe

We are excited to announce some new submission opportunities! These submissions are free and can be sent to editor@trafikaeurope.org. Submission guidelines are available on our website. We accept all types of literature as well as reviews, artwork, and any other forms of creative media related to Europe. Send any questions to editor@trafikaeurope.org

Our most forthcoming issue, slated for June, still has some time for submissions. We will explore the concept of investigation, particularly investigative fiction that puts a spin or meta component to its narration. Whether verse or prose, we are looking for new or newly translated literature that pushes the idea of what investigation and mystery mean. Check out this excerpt previously published by Trafika Europe for some inspiration: The Red Handler by Johan Harstad, translated from the Norwegian by David Smith. This experimental novel gets to the facts quickly (and comically) while adding in length academic commentary by an outside figure. Have something like The Red Handler? Submissions for this issue will be accepted until May 23, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST.

Finally, our third issue of the year will spotlight European poetry in an all-verse issue. We are looking for any translations or original English works that push the boundaries of verse, poetics, and language. Need some inspiration? Check out our April 4th episode of Trafika Europe Radio, an interview with Maria Carbunaru; poems by Kim Simonsen, translated from Faroese by Randi Ward; Noínin / Daisyby Máire Zepf; or any of the verse pieces published in our most recent issue. Submissions for the all verse issue will be accepted through September 15, 2025.
