Shortlist for the EBRD Literature Prize 2020

The 2020 EBRD Literature Prize shortlist has been announced. In this short film the four judges discuss the Prize and the three shortlisted books. The Prize, now in its third year and funded by the London-based EBRD Bank, celebrates the very best in translated literature from the nearly 40 countries where the Bank invests: from central and eastern Europe to Central Asia, the Western Balkans and the southern and eastern Mediterranean. The Prize is awarded to the best work of literary fiction originally written in a language from one of these countries, which has been translated into English and published by a UK publisher. The winner will be announced on 22nd April.

The European Literature Network was created with the mission of championing great writing from Europe in the UK – and doing it together. Open to writers, translators, publishers, agents, booksellers, festival directors, arts managers and journalists, ELNet is a free, collaborative hub for sharing news and views.

ELNet operates without funding or grants (unfortunately) and is therefore dependent on the passion, professionalism and dedication of our core team and on an extensive network of volunteers, supporters, partners and donors.
