London events with Susana Moreira Marques

Susana Moreira Marques, author of ‘Now and at the Hour of Our Death’ will be coming to London for two events after the Edinburgh International Book Festival:

30th August, 2pm

Writing a Debut and Other Matters at Bookwood Market, Hackney, London

Join us on the lovely mezzanine at Netil Market to hear Susana Moreira Marques and Niyati Keni in conversation with And Other Stories senior editor Sophie Lewis. They’ll be talking about the experience of writing your first book and having it published, and reading from their books too. It’s a lovely market, complete with mini craft-brewery, plant shop & some really good food.

And Other Stories will be selling books at Bookwood Market for the second time, and this we’ll be joined by their friends Influx Press, Jacaranda and a whole host of others.

1 September, 7pm

What We Write About When We Write About Death at Waterstones Kensington, 193 Kensington High St, London W8 6SH. Tickets £3, redeemable against a purchase of one of the books featured.

Susana Moreira Marques will talk to Anne Karpf, author of ‘How To Age’ (Pan Macmillan/The School of Life) and Matilda Tristram, author of ‘Probably Nothing’ (Viking) about what writers can bring to the conversation about sickness, ageing and death.

The European Literature Network was created with the mission of championing great writing from Europe in the UK – and doing it together. Open to writers, translators, publishers, agents, booksellers, festival directors, arts managers and journalists, ELNet is a free, collaborative hub for sharing news and views.

ELNet operates without funding or grants (unfortunately) and is therefore dependent on the passion, professionalism and dedication of our core team and on an extensive network of volunteers, supporters, partners and donors.
