In the exciting world of international fashion brands and global ‘fashion-speak’, is there such a thing as Italian fashion and an Italian language of fashion? How can we learn to speak it?
Italy’s fashion and textile industry has been one of the great success stories of post-war Europe, and the ‘Made in Italy’ brand continues to conquer the world. This year the Victoria & Albert Museum devoted a whole exhibition to Italian fashion. But for many people the words ‘Italian fashion’ are just that – only words! Without language skills and translators there would be no Italian fashion market in the UK. In workshops and discussions featuring a whole host of top Italian designers and linguists, we take you behind the scenes to discuss the language of Italian fashion – a vast parallel industry of exhibition curators, journalists, bloggers, PR folk and interpreters who are together responsible for translating the world of Italian fashion into English.
