Patrick Savolainen was born in 1988 in Malaga but grew up in Biel and Bern. He studied at the Bern University of the Arts and the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe, Germany. He is the co-founder of Edition Grilli and runs the small design studio Affolter/Savolainen, together with Sabine Affolter. Patrick lives and works in Bern. He works either in a team or independently, whether on commissioned or self-initiated projects. He draws, photographs, writes and conceptualises. The process can result in a book, a reading, a performance, a film, a website or just a short text. He is currently researching the subject of the singularity of a book as a body and its phenomenological consequences. savolainen.ch

Patrick Savolainen is one of six of Switzerland’s most remarkable contemporary poets taking part in the European Poetry Festival to celebrate Swiss poetry and potential of collaboration in literature.

The European Literature Network was created with the mission of championing great writing from Europe in the UK – and doing it together. Open to writers, translators, publishers, agents, booksellers, festival directors, arts managers and journalists, ELNet is a free, collaborative hub for sharing news and views.

ELNet operates without funding or grants (unfortunately) and is therefore dependent on the passion, professionalism and dedication of our core team and on an extensive network of volunteers, supporters, partners and donors.
