On October 1st 2014 The European Commision decided to support ELit Literature House Europe in the EU programme Creative Europe from 2015 to 2018. This is a very important step in the development of a project that is focused on communicating European literature across liguistic and cultural borders.
The ELit Literature House Europe HQ is in Wachau/Lower Austria.
Its partners are: France (Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris), Germany (Literaturhaus Europa), Great Britain (Sounds Right London), Hungary (European Cultural Foundation Budapest) and Slovenia (Beletrina-Academic Press).
The ELit Literature House Europe is an ‘observatory’ for European contemporary literature focusing chiefly on: research, discussion and publishing and monitoring literary trends across Europe. ELit also fosters the inter-cultural communication of literature within Europe and the dissemination of literature among the diverse cultural spaces within Europe. It enables writers to introduce their works in other linguistic areas and to discover new opportunities for publishing based on digital media. It develops innovative forms of communicating literature for young people from the Danube Region.
ELit Literature House Europe regularly organizes events, such as European literature youth meetings, European writers’ reading tours, in particular, with the winners of the European Union Prize for Literature, workshops for young writers and – the annual highlight – the European Literature Days in Wachau/Lower Austria, an outstanding cultural landscape and UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
At the website www.literaturhauseuropa.eu, the European Literature social media platform www.readme.cc and through ebook- and book on demand publications, ELit Literaturehouse Europe introduces literary trends in Europe and publishes and discusses writing on European issues and cultural policy.
