Call for collaboration in the European “Interactive Reading Advisor & Companion” (IRAC)
My name is Aija Sakova and I am an Estonian literary scholar and writer. I am reaching out to you to ask for your perspective and input for a project targeted to young audiences in regard to reading.
Namely, I am participating in a European project (led by Projector23 in Berlin) that aims to develop an interactive reading companion. The idea is that classical literary texts would have a companion that helps readers (especially young audiences) to understand the text better and to engage with it. In a way it would be some kind of an immersive experience.
It is a new idea that will be tested out. The beauty of the project is that it is strongly focused on the actual engagement and communication with young people in different European countries (we will run workshops and discussions, involve the young audiences in testing the developments).
The reason I am reaching out to you is that we are currently creating a list of different European classical works that could be tested for such an interactive reading companion.
We would appreciate it a lot if you would like to help us in finding these work.
Thank you for your interest in our project “Interactive Reading Advisor & Companion” (IRAC). The aim of our project is to develop an interactive reading advisor and companion based on an actual European literary work. Therefore we are looking for suggestions for suitable literary works (preferably short stories) from European countries. We are focusing on the countries participating in the project (Germany, France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Ukraine, Italy) but are not excluding ideas and proposals from other languages.
Please submit your proposal for the literary work via this form by March 31 2026.
Please note that not all fields are obligatory to be filled out but any additional information is helpful.
The criteria for literary works to be considered for IRAC project:
– the length of the text is not more than 200 pages;
– literary text should have at least one, preferably two main characters;
– it should address some existential values related topics that enable a discussions around them;
– it should ideally have translations into bigger languages (English, German, French);
– the texts should be ideally published 70 or more years ago or there should be information about the holder of copyright;
– it is preferred that there is a digitised version of the original text available.
