Breaking Borders II – Litro World Series 2027

Ten years on, Litro brings back Breaking Borders with a new question: What divides us now?

In 2017, Litro published Breaking Borders. Ten years later, some of the borders we were writing about have hardened, while others are being redrawn through language, technology, migration and AI.

Breaking Borders II will connect London, New York and Los Angeles through new writing, art, translation and live conversations.

“The borders we were writing about in 2017 are not the borders we are living with now. Some are still geographic and political; others run through language, technology, AI, authorship and who gets seen or heard. That shift is really what we want to explore.”

– Eric Akoto, Editor and Publisher, Litro

Litro is inviting writers and artists to respond to borders in their widest sense: geographic, political, linguistic, cultural, technological, intimate and imagined.

Alongside the open call, Litro is commissioning a small group of writers and artists directly for the 2027 edition and live programme.
