Arno Camenisch Liest

9 May 2019, 5.30pm – 7.00pm, Senate House, Bedford Room, G37, Ground Floor, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU, free, but registration recommended

Swiss author and performer Arno Camenisch will read from his novel Hinter dem Bahnhof [Behind the Station]. The story, about a childhood spent in the mountains of Graubünden [Grisons], is in the words of the respected Italian weekly Internazionale, ‘one of the most beautiful texts about childhood we have read in the last few years’. The same originality with which he uses words and imagery in his writing comes to the fore in his readings, which he delivers in his incomparable, melancholy though humorous style – the hallmark ‘Camenisch-Sound’.

This event also forms part of the Bodensee conference (8-10 May 2019), which will approach German-speaking literatures from this region from a cross-cultural angle. Further details and advance registration (required).

The conference also includes a reading by Alissa Walser and Verena Roßbacher at the Austrian Cultural Forum on 8 May. Advance registration required.
